I may not be able to finish the current chapter of the Heavenly Bride before I pick Akashik back up again because there was just way too much to do to recover what had been jumbled, and I’m still moving the data from the old computer to the new one. But I stayed up late last night to at least work on the next page, which is my way of setting up how things are made.
Between Akashik and The Heavenly Bride, there were only a few similarities to how they were made. With Bride, I used to buy special paper. Well I ordered some (edit: just got notice it has been shipped)… I need form of special paper, because I need paper that doesn’t bleed for when I get to the inking stage. Overall The Heavenly Bride is a lot more work than Akashik in some respects, and sometimes more costly.
Using this new “layout planning” method (thanks to Comic Life 3) is a good thing. The page in question here had a LOT more dialogue, and a lot of it was unnecessary. I’ll probably rework what’s being said more before all is said and done, but this isn’t unusual for me.
I’m also already preplanning a lot of style elements on this page that somehow got left behind over time. I also need to continue taking time on updating the layout on the pages of the other chapters. With more recent chapters, I’m thinking about taking the original blue-lines (like what you see here) and re-inking them to cleanup the artwork.
Rereading all of this reminds me of a lot. I should reread more often.
