For those of you who used to read the old comic, surely you remember Fly. Well, with her development I had to make some changes for diversity’s sake. She got a bit of Ganji’s old haircolor and a change of eyes, but I was able to keep the hair pretty close to the same although I let it be shorter. This animation was made while I worked on her, and it became a great chance to show her personality a bit.
So, status update because sooner or later things will slow down when I get a commission or something.
I haven’t slept in over 24 hours. I’m going crazy! But the following things have happened good and bad.
1. The hard drive that contained the bulk of my Akashik files died mid-scene save. It took me a couple of days to realize that I didn’t have *everything* backed up. Fortunately the new Akashik is in the budding stages so recovery isn’t as painful as it could be.
2. Apparently an entire chapter of Heavenly Bride’s original artwork, Chapter 8, has gone missing. Instead of spending my allotted time working on it, I spent it looking for the artwork. It is gone. I know who to blame, but all I can do by face is painfully keep going. At least I have digital backups of that. They weren’t on the dead hard drive. LOL
3. My animals wouldn’t shut up. I’m dog and cat tired.
4. Despite these obstacles Akashik’s writing process gained a *lot* of ground. The Other Half was voluntold to help me out (or else). I was only going to do a short 4 arcs. He reasoned Akashik needed NINE arcs. So 9 planned arcs it s. No promises, though, beyond I’m aiming to finish Arc 1.
5. One fun thing I’ve always tried to do with Akashik is turn portions of it into a game. Finally completed that: a simple fighting system so I can tabletop battles before I write them. I’m calling it the Random Battle Fun Generation Tabletop of Terrors Game. Maybe. When I have things the way I want them, I hope to add a page on the Akashik website where I’ll post the rules and character sheets of characters for people who want to ship-er. I mean tortur– no. I mean. Play the game.
6. All of this means that now the actual writing begins. I haven’t dug to see if any of the scripts I’ve written while on hiatus have survived just yet. I worry they haven’t, and I’ll have to rely on my Swiss cheese memory. In the meantime, because I’m at *this* stage I am now actively working to get props to create the environments/backgrounds needed so the comic won’t always happen in the Emptiness. And yes, proceeds from support are what enable prop acquisitions.
7. Seemingly overnight Akashik jumped in rank on the webcomic lists to somewhere near it’s old ranking from ages ago. Do the webcomic lists even matter anymore? I like the pretty buttons so I guess it’s okay either way.
8. So you know I’m staring an operation in the face in the summer. Even if it’s just development art, I’m trying to have things scheduled on the website.
9. I have much pretty artwork and I don’t know if I only want to share it here or put it on Deviantart. Dang it.
And I think that’s it! What an information dump! I’m gonna go wrap some more stuff up.
