It happened today, the thing I’ve been talking about here and there for weeks now. The main computer, the one that works on the Mohegan Language Project and creates Akashik, has decided it can do no more.  It now shuts itself off, and man it’s slow. Windows 3.1 was faster.

I knew this day was coming. Other half seems to think if we put new thermal paste into Angel (the computer) that will help, and maybe it will. But I’ve been down this road many times, and I know what it really means is I need to somehow foot the bill for a new system. We’ll try the paste  and see if that buys time. I hope it does.

Well, I knew I needed a new system anyway. DAZ Studio is always updating, and Angel was starting to have serious trouble keeping up. The video cards are old and too weak, and my current CPU doesn’t have enough threads for some of the things I want and need to do.  If I get the kind of CPU I feel I need, I’ll probably also have to get a new motherboard (which is probably what’s failing anyway) and a new power source. Which also means a new case.

I also absolutely must get some new hard drives to make backups with. The hard drives had also been dying one by one for the better part of a year to the point the other half salvaged his computer to let me save Akashik, and now he has no computer.

Which means I’m looking at a very expensive fix. Band-aids won’t work this time. If I’m going to do it, I had better do it right.

There’s only three or four of you who follow me faithfully that I know of, so hold any support you may want to give. It would only be a drop in the bucket.

Just know this isn’t goodbye or anything. Think of it more of a, “See you later”. I’m sure there might be things I still do on Charlie I’ll post. Charlie is my voice narration computer, after all.
