Let me type to you the song of my people – not because I’m avoiding sleep or anything. Would I do that?

But at Inconjunction a couple of weeks ago, a quiet fellow came to my table. He picked up the two Akashik books I had on display to purchase. He says to me, he says, “There used to be another comic by the same name.”

“It’s the same comic,” I said.

“No, it was another comic by the same name.”

“It’s the same comic,” I repeated.

“This other comic was a webcomic,” he said.

“Yes,” I said. And I went through a short explanation on how I was very sick, dying in fact, and with the lack of input I was getting from all around the world I just felt like no one cared about the comic anymore. So I stopped making it. But now that I’d had two operations and was feeling much better, I was back at it.

He apologized for not saying anything and being part of why it went down… which only made me feel bad. That isn’t why I was singing the song of my people at the table; I don’t need an apology and probably don’t deserve one really.

Then I mentioned how with the last incarnation the characters were pretty much doing as they damn well pleased, and so I had tightened up the outline for this attempt to make sure we actually got somewhere in plot and development. He didn’t seem to like that, but what are ya gonna do. There are other, more legal reasons why the comic has been reworked – I just didn’t go into those.

I might have continued to gush at that point. I’m always happy to meet a fan, and it’s neat when the odd fan comes by my table like that.  Needless to say, I think that scared him. He couldn’t get away fast enough.

Poor thing.

And that is the procrastination song of my people. I guess I”ll go sleep now.
