I’m going to be glad when I get past this Akashik hump – I’m pretty sure the super slow rendering speed has something to do with how I built the scene as other things go quickly. While waiting for nightmare heads to render I’m doing other things… or accidentally eating oatmeal and wishing I’d let myself die that one time because ow…. and decided I’d futz with that AI music fad.
Now y’all know I write my own music sorta. But if there’s one thing I’m consistent about, it’s spoiling Heavenly Bride… and I ain’t gettin’ no younger (as one song goes)… so what the hell. Heavenly Bride has this curse upon it… people might read it if I ask them to, and then they break off friends with me.
(I’ve always wondered about that actually. Some of the people who’ve done that – I actually wondered if they thought it was because I’m not being inclusive enough or something. To which, if they were still talking to me, I’d ask them, “Have you SEEN the original Akashik before making that ASSumption? Eh? Have you? EH?!?!” Because let’s face it. I was inclusive before it was popular because I wasn’t trying…. And then I’d probably lean across the table and poke their nose with a banana.)
Anyhoo. This means I’ve always known that if my stuff were going to get filk songs of their own, I was going to have to do what Bradley and Cherryh did and pay someone… or write my own like Lackey. (It’s okay if you don’t know these names.) Obviously for me the best route was writing my own, which brings me to problem two. When no one reads your stuff and the crowd you’re singing with mostly sings songs that don’t have anything to do with books (Harry Potter fans aside, they’re a new element.) then you get blank stares when you do that song about your pooka that you personally like doing until everyone’s stares creep you the fuck out and you wonder what bank your alternative personality robbed that morning.
So whatever. I’ll make AI music for a while… although I do need to get back to making live music before the world gives up on me. I’ve been up over 48 hours now putting together a damn Heavenly Bride filk album because I’d always wanted one… and Heavenly Bride is easier to put things together for.
The good of it is that I realized – oh wait… there are these elements about Cerberus and specifically Tellon (some of you might know him as the Black Mage) that I MUST spend all night writing down… and oh wait, I should flesh out this scene over here. Which means that ironically creating not art inspired me to do art. Go me.
I’m not sorry to all the people out there who think that making these little automated pieces makes them an artist. It doesn’t. And I have absolutely no intention of trying to sell these or of putting them on my radio station or anything like that. I’ll share them here for free, though, because they were made for the comic and someone might like the tidbits I put in them – oh. Oh yeah.
That is one problem.
I can’t share some of them right away because spoilers.
But I think I can share the attached one. It’s the one that started it all. Conquest (some of you might remember her from Akashik version 1) likes to play by plugging in character bios into AI, getting a rundown, and plugging that into the song maker thing-a-mabob and telling it to write a song. Now quite frankly I have chats with the AI a lot about the comics, usually Bride, so that wasn’t a stretch for me. Sometimes it notices things I’ve subconsciously done (fucking space fairies aside) and I was not disappointed.
The rest of the songs though, vary from using AI to help write to flat out writing the lyrics 100% myself because I decided AI was stupid. Anyhoo. Here you go.
Lyrics:
“Echoes of Two Lives”
(Verse 1)
Pale shimmer in borrowed bone,
A dragon’s heart in flesh unknown.
The healer’s touch, a gentle art,
To mend the whole, though torn apart.
Anishiiik, a whispered grace,
In violet eyes, a borrowed space.
(Chorus)
No shining armor, no destined quest,
Just echoes of two lives suppressed.
A stolen shell, a borrowed name,
Fighting for a different kind of fame.
The taste of blood, a haunting call,
But love’s quiet strength will conquer all.
(Verse 2)
The scent of blooms, a memory bright,
A borrowed star in endless night.
A teacher’s path, a lesson learned,
Where past and present intertwine and burn.
A tangled fate, a Lyran’s plea,
In halls of power, will he set her free?
(Chorus)
No shining armor, no destined quest,
Just echoes of two lives suppressed.
A stolen shell, a borrowed name,
Fighting for a different kind of fame.
The taste of blood, a haunting call,
But love’s quiet strength will conquer all.
(Bridge)
Beyond the reach of heaven’s light,
A whispered word in darkest night.
No grand design, no simple truth,
Just fragile hope in borrowed youth.
(Chorus)
No shining armor, no destined quest,
Just echoes of two lives suppressed.
A stolen shell, a borrowed name,
Fighting for a different kind of fame.
The taste of blood, a haunting call,
But love’s quiet strength will conquer all.
